How do I fix that. My dad did a system restore and now when he tries to reboot he gets that message. I tried the F8 functions and that didn't work. I also put the Windows CD in and nothing happened. He is using Windows XP Professional. Any help is appreciated.
I am receiving a missing or corrupt message as well.

I am using my recovery disk to try and repair but am not sure what to do. I am unable to start it in safe mode.
I have the following options of creating a partition in unpartitioned the response is that it is to small I need at least 1182 mb (it only has 8 mb).
When I choose Partition1[NTFS] I get to the next screen:
You chose to install Windows XP on a partition that contains another operationg system. Installing Windows XP on this partition might cause the operating system to function improperly. Caution: Installing multiple operating system on a single partion is not recommended.
Neither....... if it'll let you, there should be a prompt where it'll have you hit "R" to "R"epair windows.... try to see if you have that come up... if so, choose it... it'll just reinstall windows and replace the file it chewed up..
I dropped it off at the geek squad and since they are so full of knowledge (not!!!) I won't really know anything till I get it back and maybe not even then.
