Giving this serious consideration. The Compaq notebook eitje repaired for me last year (or was that 2 years ago?) is cooked. My Vaio is ok and someone donated the identical machine to Zoomie's Network For Wayward RAM. But I'm looking for a laptop stricly for eBay, posting here/other boards and messaging. Can't beat the price ($399).

Please dickscuss.

I like the EEE.

The thing is, it'll be a learning curve for you, since it doesn't run Windows. If you're okay with that, it's actually a great little computer!

also, recognize that there are cheaper versions out there, too.

it all depends on how much you want to store locally; remember, these computers don't have a normal HDD, so the only way you're getting more storage is by adding a USB Hard Drive.

That's kinda the plan. EEE and a USB HD or CDRW. Or both for portability.

BTW, the EEE will run Windows, just eats more RAM and is slower than Linux.

Linux can run in under 2%CPU and 5M of RAM ...
