After using so many diferent software versions on so many different computers... I started to think about what everyone else is using on a regular basis even though PC Mag didn't rate it in the top 10%.... With dozens if not hundreds of utilities at hand - which ones do you actually use?
So what utilities are you currently using?
Example - this PC, a 2.8ghz XP Box: AVG Anti Virus 7.5 Free (Simple as it is - I like it, it works - so far) ZoneAlarm Firewall AdAware SpyBot S&D Sandra 2004 + updates

I use Trend-Micro Security Suite on this (laptop, it cames with it) Xilsoft, Adaware, Spybot, and 123 Spyware Avast, Clamwin, and NOD32 Portables for AV scanning
Whatever else I use, I just use the portables on my U3 Flash Drive ....
only real thing I have running (since not many people make shit for vista machines at the moment...) is Kasperski internet security... so far, so good.. hasn't found anything... keep blocking sites and shit... so that's good...
browser: I use Firefox, with several extensions on it.... Most notable is "stop Script"... a few arguments here and there, but then again, I use stumbleupon, so that's a good thing to have when running that....
Virus Scanners: even though I do run kaspersky, I still use some online virus scanners... I used to use trend micro, however the wait and updates became too involved... so then I switched to bit defender... THAT one's good.... small, compact, packs a whallop....
I run a few "other" things.... but i'm not about to give the FULL status of my security here
7-Zip (free; supports almost any archive type, and isn't lame like WinZip - has right-click context menu integration) burnatonce (free; supports burning FLAC to Audio CD, and creating ISOs, amongst other necessary features) CDex (free; rips CDs in a wide number of formats, including FLAC) Daemon Tools (free; mounts ISO images for easy software installation) DVDShrink (free; allows one to "preview" DVDs - you can "preview" all the way through, making this a free DVD player) FLAC (free; lossless audio codec - the files are bigger, but there's NO loss of quality that MP3 requires) FoxIt Reader (free; PDF viewer) GIMP (free; moderate quality application for photo editting - recently, i've also been looking at Paint.net) Firefox (free; web browser) Notepad++ (free; text editor with syntax highlighting for various filetypes and tabbed interface) Thunderbird Portable (free; email) VirtualTI (free; with the appropriate ROM image, allows one to emulate various TI calculators on your computer) Winamp (free; media playback suite - has FLAC input plugin, and milkdrop visualizations) WinCalendarTime (free; clock replacement, includes one-click calendar popup for easy date-checking) XP Codec Pack (free; contains most video & audio codecs that are necessary to viewing the random content one finds on the web)
