I got this error message out of nowhere today:
"RTHDCPL.exe Illegal System DLL Relocation
The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\\WINDOWS\system32\\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL."
I have a Gateway GT4024 with Windows XP (SP2), Avast Home Ed, and Comodo Firewall. I know the error message was from the Realtek sound card, but I still have sound... that still works. The only thing that was new with the computer was Firefox was recently updated (a day or two ago), and Windows updated itself an hour or two before I got the message. Could that be it?
I looked in the system32 folder and user32.dll is alive and well. I don't know where to find it in memory. That's beyond me.
