I can't do it right now because my system is maxing out - but I have noticed that while transfering files (gigs, as a matter of fact) from a Sata Drive to an IDE drive on a 2.8gig P4 running WinXP PRO, it doesn't seem to be as fast as a good ol' Durron 800mhz system runnin Win98. I just tried it but couldn't time it, FreeBSD or Linux aside (Iwill get to those) - what I don't understand is the numbers. How can a system running with such a 'smaller bus speed' and a well known bottle neck transfer data quicker then a system a decade ahead of it? If anyone has already done this post it - otherwise I will run these 'benchmarks' in the coming weeks.
